Unveiling The Heatseekers Festival 2024: A Fusion of Digital Artistry and Youth Entertainment

Johannesburg – The BAI Foundation proudly announces the return of The Heatseekers Festival, a dynamic and multi-disciplinary event curated to showcase the trailblazing artistry emerging within the digital film and youth entertainment space. With a rich history of producing events and fostering communities around uplifting young, independent talent, The Heatseekers Festival has become a beacon for innovation and creativity.
Over the past five years, BAI festivals have been home to some of the most trailblazing digital content creators and young filmmakers in South Africa; having screened award-winners web-series like thought-provoking Politically Aweh, viral favorites like Love; The Webseries & AreYouTubedIn as well as SAFTA-winning short films like current winner Cogito Ergo Sum.
BAI has also hosted unforgettable performances from award-winning comedians like Tsitsi Chiumya, Wazi M. Kunene & Ebenhaezer Dibakwane to hip-hop & R&B darlings Filah Lah Lah, Lucille Slade & Garden Music & Tyson Sybateli.The Heatseekers Festival 2024 promises to be a comprehensive celebration of young and independent talent, spanning four days over two weekends. Heatseekers fest will be bringing live podcasts, immersive workshops and in-depth conversations from some of our industry’s most trailblazing minds to a celebration of youth creativity through captivating screenings, dazzling showcases and more surprises .
The first weekend is set to take place on the 13th and 14th April 2024 at The Tshimologong Digital Innovation PrecinctCall for Submissions:BAI Heatseekers is inviting digital content creators and filmmakers to submit their work for consideration at this year's festival. Their call is looking for short films, animations, web-series and digital formats (video essays, comedy sketches, experimental formats etc) for the festivals. Entries must not be longer than 30 minutes and must be of your copyright.If you believe your content embodies innovation, creativity, and is an engaging story; we may want to screen it!Submissions can be sent to submissions@baifoundation.org.za.
